I keep wondering why Dr. Hackman is so mean to the boy. He doesn't even know him and treats him like he's a nobody. There has to be a reason for his hatred. He seems very selfish and only want to be famous. I wonder what it is. I also wonder what Dr. Hackman's fascination with Egypt is. I also wonder what the story is behind the person who fell out the window. I wish that Paul's mother would listen to him more. I know she cares about him and they are living with him because of the pay and stuff, but I would like to think that she cares more about her son than getting paid more.

I think Hackman's a pretty big jerk. Him treating Paul like he does may just have to do with something that happened in his childhood, but that doesn't mean he can be this big smart-alic! Also, I noticed that Dr. Hackman is a bit "interested in Paul's mom. I know he knows that Paul'smother is dead so I just hope that they don't dating or marry because that would be horrible! Also, I wonder what experience the grandparents have with the house because when the kids ask them about the house, the clam up!

DeleteSpeaking of his grandparents is a good point. Why don't they want to talk about it? That seems odd.

DeleteI also keep thinking about the "accident" that apparently happened. I personally would NOT want to sleep in that house. But, I am also wondering about that thing he found behind the dresser. What is it? I am excited to see if they catch the mummy. It would be cool to get that cash prize.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Dr. Hackman put Paul into an old tower that hangs off a cliff! Its also weird how that was the only room in the house that was locked...

DeleteYeah I really wonder why Hackman can be awesome to his mom but when Mr. karsten comes in is really mean and selfish. I especially wonder who would build that tower on a cliff and with such small windowsills and why Hackman would have a kid of all people sleep In it. I am also unsure why the grandparents don't say anything about the house when the kids try to talk to them. I am guessing that the grandparents had something to do with the house when they were kids. I wonder if they'll ever tell their story. They seem a little suspicious.....
ReplyDeleteI find that a little interesting too. I think that the grandparents where there or something because why else would the their grandmother shoot their grandfather a "sharp look" when the subject comes up and he responds.
DeleteMe to dr.hackman seems to be selfish and only cares about his self what a jerk. He thinks he could make a lot of money on this museum of his. I also wonder if he has a secret that he’s not telling us about? I wonder is they will catch the mommy it would be cool to get the 10,000 dollar prize.

DeleteI wonder why the grand parents are not telling them about the house a least tell them about it. I hope they tell us more about someone falling out the window it would be interesting if they did.

ReplyDeleteI think Hackman is kind of like Doug's dad. He is a big jerk. I agree how he just met the kid doesnt even know him but can treat so poorly. Maybe people have treated Mr.Hackman like that or he treated other people like that. I am also very curious about the lady falling of the window. I wonder why his grandparent never told them about the mummy. im starting to wonder if they know about it and dont want to tell them or if they dont know about it and and are wondering.

DeleteI wonder why it's such a bad place to go to it would be awesome to go look for a mummy at an abandon building. Also I agree about the Dr. Hackman thing why would he be mean to a little boy that he doesn't know, I mean if I were him I would get to know the boy and then decide whether if I want to be mean to the boy or be nice. I would want a cash prize.
ReplyDeleteI really don’t trust Mr. Hackman.If I were that family I would just run out right there and then. I also am not so sure about his wife either she seems like she keeps to herself and when she started talking about the window accident then stopped you would think something like maybe she was envolved in that or someone she knew did it.
ReplyDeleteI think that it would be scary in a house that has a mummy in it. I think the hunted house in Dubuque is scary. I hope that they can find the mummy. I think it was mean of Hackman's to put Paul into a old tower hanging of a cliff. I also think that Hackman's is a jerk to.
ReplyDeleteI do not like Mr.Hackman. All he does is care about Pauls mom and kind of shuts Paul out if i were Paul i would want to run away. I think something happend to Pauls grandparents at the house when they were younger or the person that fell out the window was one of there friends. I really think thats why they won’t talk about it. I dont understand why pauls mom doesnt care about him.

ReplyDeleteI think that this is going to be a scary book because there seems to be a mummy in that old house on hackman’s hill. I also wonder why Mr. Hackman is being so mean to that kid. I wonder where the mummy is. I was hoping that the kids would go into the house to see what’s in there.
